Skin Care Favs

Well hello there, Happy Monday.

Here we are at the beginning of yet another week in lock down and I'm doing my up most to keep myself from going insane. To be completely truthful, I found last week quite difficult and found myself feeling quite low at points. To the point where I didn't actually even want to talk to anyone. But this week I'm starting over with a more positive outlook on the week. I've been awake since 8.00am, I've just finished my third cuppa and the kettles boiling again (whatever keeps a gal going ya know) I've got Bridget Jones on Netflix and Christmas songs playing through my headphones. I'm an odd one.  I like to have something to look at and take my eyes away from the screen from typing. But lets be honest the majority of us are slowly getting onto the festive band wagon aren't we...

I thought I'd talk you through my little skin care routine, its one thing I'm trying to do for myself a bit more at the moment. It's safe to say that over the past years it has changed and more than likely it will continue to change. I love trying new products though sometimes I get a little scared to try something new incase my skin doesn't agree with it.  My skin has been relatively happy lately other the odd hormonal breakout and no matter how hard we try we can not avoid those can we.. I can certainly say I've got a few little breakouts going on.

The thing that has completely changed for me when it comes to taking my makeup off, is I now use this little beauty, Face Halo. Now in all honesty I have no idea how long these bad boys have been around and sometimes I feel as though I've been living under a rock with how quick new things come about but I'm in love. Simply dampen with warm water and wipe all over your face and removes even the most full coverage makeup. All the little fibers grab hold of the makeup and remove it.. all!! It sounds too good to be true right..? it  takes off that stubborn eye makeup the most cleansers struggle with. They are reusable and rewashable, Non- Toxic and Crulty free. They have a few options on their website, there's a white face halo or black one. The black one is designed for heavier makeup and I think I will look into purchasing one just out of curiosity. I love the the white one which is meant for average coverage. This nifty little thing will survive unto 200 machine washes which I think is pretty amazing.  I use a bar of soap to clean it in between uses, and about once a week I throw into the washing machine depending on how much I've used it. Ive not been wearing makeup much lately as we've not go any where to go so its not been used too much as of late.. At £7 from boots for a single Face Halo thats quite a saving on cleanser and makeup wipes don't ya think..?

Though I am one to do a double cleanse, My skin in so prone to breakouts I have to do as much as I can to help it and try to prevent them. I would say my skin is combination skin, I can be quite dry and oily all at the same time which some times can make it a little difficult to know what to use on on my skin. I have completely fallen in love with the Pixi Rose Cream Cleanser. It's so gentle on my skin and very calming. Leaves my skin feeling soft and really clean. It defiantly does its job thats for sure.  I have used it a few times to remove makeup to just to see how it would agaisnt other cleansers I have used in the past, it did a pretty good job to be fair. Though nothing will compare to the Elemis Omega Rich Cleansing oil - this stuff makes extremely light work of removing makeup. Sadly Im all out currently. But I will be repurchasing soon I can assure you of that.

On my lazy days the Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water is my go to. Those mornings where you just can't be bothered or you've had bare minimal makeup on and just looking for a quick once over, This will do the job every time. This has been a staple product for me for years now. Oil based products are actually amazing. I always thought that because I had slightly oily skin that I should avoid oil based products but actually its quite the opposite. They work wonders for me and really give my skin the boost that in needs in general..

Can you tell yet that I'm a fan of Elemis.. Super Berry Boost Mask does exactly what it says on the packaging. This gives my skin a complete refresh. a "Boost" if will. With it's clay based formula it absorbs any excess oil without leaving your skin feeling dry. I tend to reach for this every other week or so. In-between I tend to use a sheet mask. Garnier do some really nice hydrating ones which are lovely this time of year.

The Ordinary, a brand that I find to be a little out of the ordinary. They've been around a while however I was always quite sceptical to try them. I just didn't think that they would be that good. I don't know why, I guess because they don't have a huge price tag attached to them. I'm not the only one surely that thinks that more you pay for a product the better it will be. Well let me tell you now that these little bottles slapped me right across the face and called me wrong.. I'm OBBESSED and thats putting it lightly. My favourite out of these 3 has to be AHA 30% BHA 2% Peeling Solution.  There some days where I just think there's no hope. Ive got break outs galore its dry and dull and nothing else is helping not even a good moisturiser. Thats where this guy comes in, as long as you can spare 10 mins out of your day, you're all good with this one.  The Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) exfoliates the top layer of skin to help the appearance of the skin appear brighter and even, while the Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA) they exfoliate the deeper layers of the skin to help with the prevention of blocked pores. So its perfect to have around to help battle those pesky spots. Also great for reducing fine lines and help with a more youthful look, obviously its not a miracle worker you will have to continue to use it for the full effects.

The Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 this little beauty is a lovely hydrating serum. It doesn't feel like it would be because its quite thick with its texture but feels very light weight on the skin and pretty much dry by the time you've even out the bottle away so you find it slowing your morning routine down.

Niacinamide 10% Zinc 1% this is kind of a good all rounder that will help with congested skin and combat blemishes. It helps to prevent and future breakout and any on going breakouts that need taming, the 1% Zinc is there to help with the healing of damaged skin and to encourage the reproduction of collagen in the skin keeping your skin nice a plump.

Now finally onto my all time favourite lip combination. Of course I was going to mention a lush lip scrub  I love them, I always have and always will. They taste great and work wonders especially this time of year. Im so prone to dry lips. But the really star of the show is without a shadow of a doubt my Blistex Daily Lip Conditioner, Holy Hell... this stuff honestly is amazing and what makes me sad is that Ive never heard anyone ever mention. I've worked my way through some serious amounts of lip balms over the years and Ive never had one come close to being as good as this one.  This has brought my lips back from even the most painful stages of chapped lips. It goes with me absolutely everywhere. I was genuinely gutted when I realised I was all out and I no shop near me seems to sell it anymore. I ended up buying it from Amazon.
